The AssetSonar team is excited to announce the launch of the new, fully redesigned interface for the Jira integration. The new design is highly intuitive — it’s easier than ever to navigate the AssetSonar-Jira integration. You can access key IT Assets and relevant information directly from within the Jira platform.
By increasing application efficiency and offering more contextual information, the new and improved AssetSonar UI aims to significantly reduce the time you spend resolving your issues, thereby improving productivity. It also ensures greater security as only AssetSonar Admins can access the AssetSonar application from within the Jira platform.
What’s different?
Based on valuable customer feedback, we’ve redesigned AssetSonar’s Jira integration to make the incident management experience more accessible, faster, and easier as well as more visually pleasing.
Furthermore, with new enhancements to AssetSonar and Jira integration, you can now access IT asset information directly from the Jira app and can also use custom fields to enter linked items.
Here’s what’s new!
Contents
- More visibility with a larger AssetSonar app window

- Intuitive and simplified card design
- Apply search filters
- Updated warning screen
- Quick access search
- Adding linked items to the item card
- New attributes on the item card
1. More visibility with a larger AssetSonar app window
We have increased the size of the AssetSonar app window in Jira. The bigger app window enables you to view your information at a single glance.

2. Complete item information on the home screen
The updated design of the AssetSonar home screen within Jira facilitates quick navigation while keeping users in the same window. Upon launching the AssetSonar app in Jira, you can now get a complete view of Item status via three separate tabs. These include Items Checked Out and Upcoming Reservations for the Reporter as well as Linked Items for the issue.
If you click on the arrow beside the status tab, you can see in detail which items are assigned to the Reporter and/or linked to the issue.
3. Intuitive and simplified card design
Previously, the AssetSonar app in Jira only showed restricted information with half the size of the new design update.
With the new UI, cards display more information such as Asset #, AIN, Location, etc. making it easy to read and find the Items you’re looking for.
Users can also directly link and unlink an Item to an issue from the Link(blue)/Unlink(white) button highlighted below.
The increased visibility into Asset data with simplified card design boosts productivity for Admins and Agents as it makes workflows more convenient and efficient.
4. Apply search filters
Users can also apply filters for quick and refined Item searches as shown.
You can apply filters to the following data values:
The new filter also enables users in Jira to run a granular search with a preset Available Items filter on the side. Let’s say, an IT Admin wants to search for different laptops at a particular location, however, they only want to see the available laptops. After typing in ‘laptop’ in the search bar, the IT Admin can easily click on ‘Available Items’ to see the required results:
5. Updated warning screen
The new warning screen offers a new functionality with respect to the Reporters:
If the email ID of an issue’s Reporter is not found in AssetSonar, you get redirected to the Member Listings page in AssetSonar by clicking the highlighted button. From here, you can add details of the missing Reporter (Member) and get back to populating the Jira issue.

6. Quick access search
Offering powerful search capabilities, the new design includes a clearly visible search button on the AssetSonar window. Now users don’t have to scroll down to access the search button. The button can be used to look for any Item within the organization — regardless of whether it is checked out to the Reporter or not. To make the navigation easier than ever, the search bar has been shifted to the top of the AssetSonar application window.
Searching for relevant items will exhibit results as shown below:
Unlike the old design, the improved UI facilitates quick search actions so you don’t have to click a link and wait for the search option to find the items.
7. Adding linked items to the item card
For increased visibility, we have also added the AIN number in the Labels field on an item card. The new Labels field allows you to see the asset number in the right-hand column AssetSonar field without needing an extra click so you can view all the linked assets on one page.
8. New attributes on the item card
Now you can also expand the list of attributes visible in the Jira ticket beyond three so the user has easy access to more detailed information as required with minimal clicks.
To add more attributes, from your AssetSonar application, go to Settings →Add Ons → Jira Integration and select the additional attributes.
An overlay will appear where you can click on ‘Add Column’ to add more attributes. You can add up to 10 attributes. Once you have updated the Jira Integration setting on the AssetSonar application, you will see the changes reflected in the Jira app as well.
To view these changes on the Jira app and click on ‘View more’ on a relevant asset and you will be able to see these additional attributes as shown below.
