AssetSonar Education
IT Asset Management for Education
One Connected IT Record Across Every Campus
Bring assets, custodians, locations, software, and tickets from campus systems into a single connected IT Graph without replacing the MDMs and identity tools each unit already uses.
Where Education IT Loses Control
Campus Records Sit in Different Systems
Intune, Jamf, Google Workspace, and departmental spreadsheets each hold part of the record, leaving ownership, location, cost, and history disconnected.
Unmanaged Assets Never Reach IT
Projectors, classroom AV, lab equipment, and peripherals may sit in different platforms, leaving IT unaware until they move, disappear, or come under review.
Auditors Ask, IT Rebuilds by Hand
When auditors, security reviewers, or leadership ask for evidence, IT must rebuild custody, location, license, service, and disposal histories across separate systems.
Lean Teams Absorb Every Term Peak
Lean IT teams manage thousands of devices across campuses and users, while device assignments, returns, and refresh activities intensify at the beginning and end of each term.

Hardware Asset Management
Track Every Device Beyond the MDM
Track Chromebooks, MacBooks, Windows laptops, iPads, classroom AV, and network gear across campuses, buildings, and custodians. AssetSonar combines discovered device data with purchase, warranty, service, custody, location, and retirement details throughout the asset lifecycle. See each asset’s custodian, building, room, and complete history in one record.

Software Asset Management
Reconcile Software Across Departments
Bring discovered applications and license records into a unified software catalog. AssetSonar normalizes duplicate titles across departments, tracks seats, entitlements, usage, and renewal dates on each license record, and flags unused licenses for reclamation or reassignment. Give your IT team a single, current view of software ownership and utilization across the campus.

IT Service Management
Resolve Requests With Asset Context
Run AssetSonar's native service desk on the same IT Graph as your devices. Service Catalog forms open repair requests with the device record and its history already attached, eliminating the need to retype details. Faculty and staff can submit and track requests in the portal, while SLA clocks follow your institution's working hours.

Hardware Custody Management
Control Shared Equipment at Scale
Let students, faculty, and staff view availability and reserve lab devices, AV carts, and other shared equipment. Route requests for approval, support recurring reservations, check equipment out to a person or location, capture condition, verify custody, and process returns with Quick Check-in.

Workflow Automation
Automate Repetitive Lifecycle Work
Use the Workflow Automation Engine to coordinate assignments, custody checks, reclamation, approvals, and lifecycle actions across distributed teams. AssetSonar standardizes workflows to reduce manual follow-up during high-volume periods while retaining human approval and verification where needed. This helps lean campus IT teams manage term-based peaks with less manual work.

Mobile IT Management
Complete Campus Work in the Field
Use the AssetSonar mobile app on iOS or Android to scan QR codes and barcodes, identify devices, and check them out or back in individually or in bulk. Technicians can update custody and location records, verify devices, and scan against a location’s expected list.

Frequently Asked Questions
AssetSonar works with mobile device management (MDM) platforms; it does not replace them. Intune, Jamf, Kandji, Mosyle, and Google Endpoint Management handle enrollment, configuration policies, application installation, and remote actions. AssetSonar reconciles their device data with custodian, location, cost, license, ticket, and disposal records.
AssetSonar uses nested locations to model campuses, buildings, rooms, labs, and storage areas. Location-scoped Custom Roles can limit departmental technicians to the records they manage, while central IT retains broader visibility. The institution must design and maintain this hierarchy; AssetSonar does not generate it automatically. The platform then connects each asset to its current location, custodian, service history, and Item Trail.
AssetSonar imports managed hardware through integrations with systems such as Google Endpoint Management, Intune, and Jamf. Its ITAM Agent adds software inventory, patch state, and vulnerability details for Windows, macOS, and Linux devices, while network discovery finds connected equipment without an agent. Assets outside a management system and the network must be imported and labeled.
AssetSonar supports the asset-data side of an audit or vendor security review. Location Audits, Custody Verification, license records, patch history, Item Trails, and time-stamped exports help IT show what it owns, where assets are, who held them, and what changed. It complements, rather than replaces, the institution’s security, governance, risk, and compliance programs. EZO’s certifications and security information are available on the EZO security page.
AssetSonar lets users check availability, reserve equipment for a date range, and route requests through Arbitration. Recurring Reservations support scheduled classes, while features such as Carts, Bundles, and Packages help move sets of gear together. IT teams can check assets out to a person or location, record condition, verify custody, and use Quick Check-in for returns. Conflict-free reservations and check-in overdue alerts are configurable settings.
AssetSonar’s Software Normalization combines duplicate application records in a unified software catalog. License records track seats, entitlements, and renewal dates, while the License Optimizer identifies unused seats for review and reclamation. These license management and optimization capabilities require the Advanced SAM add-on.
AssetSonar provides managed implementation, with a standard hardware-discovery rollout. Implementation typically takes around 7 to 14 days depending on the size of the IT estate, and implementation support is included in the subscription with no setup charge. The team helps configure discovery sources and the initial environment. Timing depends on data readiness: decentralized software records, departmental spreadsheets, and assets that cannot be discovered automatically take longer because the institution must assemble and clean those inputs. Implementation does not eliminate that internal data work.
AssetSonar uses published per-asset pricing with unlimited users, so adding central, college, lab, or departmental users does not add seat fees. It connects to device, identity, network, warranty, and procurement systems through native integrations and APIs, including Intune, Jamf, Kandji, Mosyle, Google Workspace, Cisco Meraki, Microsoft SCCM, JumpCloud, Apple Business Manager, and Workspace ONE. Native ITSM is available in AssetSonar.
